Charlotte Maxeke Hospital - Radiation Oncology
“The GDID had appointed Glad Africa for the fire service to the emergency works after a Fire had broken out in April 2021 and subsequently closed the facility. This hospital has served the Johannesburg area since the 1970’s and vital to provide healthcare to the general public of the area, hence the stress to open the facility received the highest priority from the Department of Health. Polygon through a sub-consultancy basis worked on getting the critical Radiation Oncology building open for duties in 2 months after the unwanted event. Our duties entailed preparing plans for council approval, sourcing council approval, managing implementation of approved rationale and facilitating fire clearance. The works required almost 18-24 hour days, 7 days a week. This meant a high resource requirement relative to the size of project.
This work was successfully turned over to the user client for operation in June 2021. “
